The cinema program Weltsichten will take place again this month on Friday, April 29th, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. in the ODEON cinema! Kino Weltsichten is a cinema series of the International Women's Film Festival Dortmund | Köln eV and is carried out together with the SPHS – VereintMenschen.

Arrive in a country whose language you don't speak, whose culture is alien to you and where orientation is difficult. This is where the Cinema: World Views project comes in. Film has a universal language and connects people, because where it fails, images make something immediately clear, understandable and comprehensible.

Once a month, Kino: Weltsichten presents films that show the role of women in the most diverse countries and cultures. Seeing things together and the subsequent conversation are important to us. Openness, tolerance and curiosity are the basis of these film talks, to which everyone with and without a migration background is cordially invited.

Germany 2020, Documentary (99 minutes) Recommended for ages 14+

It was 1961 when the women of the CDU pressured Konrad Adenauer (first chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany) until he brought the first woman into his cabinet.

A look at history quickly makes it clear that women in politics as chancellors, ministers or state secretaries were never a matter of course. In the film, the female politicians have their say who, between 1949 and 1990, had to fight for their participation in democratic decision-making processes against men who were obsessed with success and drunk on office, thereby laying the foundation for equal participation in political power. They pursued their path fearlessly, ambitiously and with endless patience. Her memories are at once funny and bitter, absurd and at times frighteningly topical.
